Maple Icing
Maple icing for coating maple walnut cookies.
Ingredients
pure maple syrup
¼ cup
unsalted butter
2 tbsp
confectioners’ sugar (adding more as necessary to make a thick but spreadable icing)
1¼ to 1½ cups
Instructions
1
Make Icing
Place the maple syrup and butter in a small saucepan and heat over low heat, stirring, just until the butter melts.
2
Mix Icing
Remove from the heat and whisk in 1¼ cups of the confectioners’ sugar, adding more as necessary to make a thick but spreadable icing.
3
Glaze Cookies
Using a frosting spreader or a table knife, glaze the tops of the cookies. Reheat the icing for a few seconds if it becomes too thick to spread. Let the cookies stand on a rack until the icing sets.
