Chrysanthemum Rose Tea

Story

This classic Chinese beverage has been cherished for centuries. Chrysanthemum brings a subtle cooling quality, while rose petals lend gentle sweetness and a lovely fragrance. Enjoy it warm on a chilly day, or chill and serve over ice when the weather is warm.

Ingredients

dried chrysanthemum flowers 1 tablespoon
dried rose petals 1 tablespoon
rock sugar or loose sugar 2-3 pieces, to taste
boiling water 2 cups

Instructions

1

Rinse the herbs

Place the dried chrysanthemum flowers and rose petals in a fine mesh strainer. Run briefly under cool water to wash away any dust or particles.

2

Add to teapot

Transfer the rinsed herbs into a teapot or heatproof pitcher.

3

Steep the tea

Pour the boiling water over the herbs. Drop in the rock sugar pieces, cover, and let steep for about 10 minutes so the flavors meld beautifully.

4

Serve and enjoy

Strain the tea into cups and serve warm. For a refreshing option, let it cool completely and pour over ice.
