Corn Preparation for Photography

Story

Blanching the corn helps bring out its vibrant color, and tidying and arranging the corn husks and corn silk is carried out for photography styling purposes.

Ingredients

Corn on the cob (with husk)
Water (for blanching) sufficient
Ice water sufficient

Instructions

Trim

Use scissors to trim the darker areas of the corn silk.

Blanch

Blanch or steam the corn for about 10 minutes until the husks and corn kernels turn bright.

Ice bath

Take the corn out of the pot, immediately submerge it in ice water, and cool it until it is no longer hot to the touch.

Tidy up appearance

Gently fold the husk back about halfway, grab the tip of the corn silk and pull it off, any remaining silk can be removed with fingers or scissors.

Shaping (optional)

You can fully peel off one side of the husk, tear the removed husk into strips and tie knots, wrap them around the corn kernels to form a decorative collar, and secure it with T-pins.
