Instructions

Prepare the cake

Make cupcakes and let them cool. Coat with light pink fondant frosting (use coffee-flavored frosting for coffee cupcakes). Let dry for at least 1 hour.

Prepare the frosting

Tint half of the royal icing deep brown; if it is too thin, add sifted powdered sugar. Transfer it into a piping bag fitted with a fine flower tip. Place the remaining white royal icing into another piping bag.

Pipe decorative designs

Use the brown frosting to pipe 1950s-style dresses (with slim waists and full skirts) on some cupcakes, and pipe high heels and handbags on other cupcakes. Use the white frosting to fill in details such as dress patterns, bag clasps, and shoe stitching.
