Air Fryer Fruit Egg Tarts

Story

This lazy-person recipe proves that impressive desserts can come together with almost zero fuss. The air fryer does all the heavy lifting, giving the tart shells a beautiful golden edge while warming the fruit just enough to release its natural sweetness.

Ingredients

frozen or refrigerated egg tart shells 4 shells
fresh durian chunks or other fruit 1/2 cup
egg 1
milk 3 tablespoons
sugar 1 tablespoon
aluminum foil as needed
kitchen towels paper towels

Instructions

1

Prepare the fruit and custard

Arrange the egg tart shells on a sheet of aluminum foil, leaving space between each. Top each shell with your choice of fresh fruit—durian works wonderfully, but berries, mango, or peaches are great alternatives. If making a simple custard, whisk together the egg, milk, and sugar until smooth, then pour a small amount into each shell.

2

Air fry to golden perfection

Preheat your air fryer to 200°C (400°F). Carefully place the foil with tarts inside the basket. Cook for 18-20 minutes until the edges turn golden brown and the filling looks set. Keep a close eye during the last few minutes to prevent burning.

3

Check doneness and serve

Test by inserting a toothpick into the center of a tart—it should come out clean or with just a bit of moist crumbs. Let cool for 2-3 minutes before serving. The fruit will be gently warmed and perfectly paired with the buttery tart shell.
