Story
This creative fruit platter transforms everyday fruits into an adorable 'baby in a cradle' that makes snack time fun for toddlers. Use ripe, sweet fruits for the best results.
Ingredients
Instructions
Prepare the cradle
Cut the cantaloupe in half lengthwise. Scoop out all the seeds and discard. Carefully hollow out the inside, leaving about a 1/2-inch thick wall. Reserve the flesh for later use.
Create the apple baby
Wash and peel the apple. Carefully insert the pacifier into the top where the stem would be, or use a small notch to secure it. This becomes your 'baby' figure.
Make the nori facial features
Using kitchen scissors, cut small circles from the nori sheet for eyes, a tiny triangle for the nose, and a curved strip for the mouth. Cut thin strips for hair. Attach each piece to the apple by pressing gently—they will stick due to moisture.
Assemble the cradle
Dice the reserved cantaloupe flesh into bite-sized pieces. Mix with the berries, banana, and grapes. Fill the hollowed cantaloupe halves with this colorful fruit mixture.
Finish the presentation
Nestle the decorated apple 'baby' on top of the fruit filling in one of the cantaloupe halves. Serve immediately, or cover loosely with plastic wrap if preparing ahead. Supervise closely if using a pacifier with very young babies.
