Herbed Green Onion Bread
A savory bread made with green onions and herbs, which can be shaped into breadsticks for serving.
Ingredients
thinly sliced green onions
½ cup (1½-pound) / ¾ cup (2-pound)
dried basil (crushed)
½ teaspoon (1½-pound) / ¾ teaspoon (2-pound)
dried thyme (crushed)
½ teaspoon (1½-pound) / ¾ teaspoon (2-pound)
dried rosemary (crushed)
¼ teaspoon
margarine or butter (cut up)
2 tablespoons (1½-pound) / 3 tablespoons (2-pound)
milk
1 cup (1½-pound) / 1⅓ cups (2-pound)
egg

bread flour
3 cups (1½-pound) / 4 cups (2-pound)
sugar
2 tablespoons (1½-pound) / 3 tablespoons (2-pound)
salt
¾ teaspoon (1½-pound) / 1 teaspoon (2-pound)
active dry yeast or bread machine yeast
1 teaspoon (1½-pound) / 1¼ teaspoons (2-pound)

Step 1
Select the loaf size. In a small skillet cook green onions, basil, thyme, and rosemary in margarine or butter until green onions are tender, stirring occasionally. Cool slightly.

Add green onion mixture and the remaining ingredients to the machine according to the manufacturer's directions. Select the basic white bread cycle.
