Ingredients

All-Purpose Sugar Cookie Dough (page 332) 1 recipe
Edible Tempera Paints (page 378) 1 recipe

Instructions

1

Prepare the Dough

Divide the dough in half. Place each portion between two large sheets of wax paper. Roll into a 1/8-inch-thick rectangle; inspect the underside of the dough and smooth out any creases. Stack the rolled dough (with paper) on a baking sheet. Refrigerate for 30 minutes until cooled and firm but not hard, or freeze for 15 minutes to speed up chilling.

2

Prepare the Paints

Meanwhile, prepare the paints according to the recipe directions.

3

Cut the Rectangles

Working with one portion of dough at a time (keep the rest chilled), gently peel off one sheet of wax paper and pat it back into place. Flip the dough over, peel off and discard the second sheet. Cut the dough into two puzzle-sized rectangles.
