9+ Months Baby Food Cabbage Egg Pork Floss Pancake

A mom in our group recently asked why we've been sharing recipes for older babies and requested something for younger ones — so today's recipe is a finger food for that stage.

Babies around 8–9 months should gradually be introduced to foods they can hold and eat on their own, but many parents miss this window and continue feeding only rice cereal at 8 or even 10 months. This results in a monotonous diet with no progression in texture, which isn't ideal. The 8–9 month stage is a golden period for developing chewing ability, so it's important to slowly transition foods toward a coarse, granular texture.

At around 9 months, you can make small pancakes for your baby to pick up and eat themselves. This adds enjoyment to mealtimes and helps exercise their chewing skills. They'll also feel a sense of accomplishment from feeding themselves, and will gradually eat more on their own — meaning you won't need to keep spoon-feeding. Picture the whole family eating together, with your baby joining in too: relaxed and happy for everyone.

It's a lovely scene, though at first your baby will likely make a mess everywhere. Resist the urge to intervene — instead, encourage them to keep trying. With time, their eating skills will steadily improve.

Ingredients

eggs 3
green onions a handful
seafood sesame powder 1 packet
pork floss 10g
shredded green vegetables 10g

Instructions

1

Step 1

First, prepare the ingredients and chop the vegetables finely. Green onions add aroma. I have three eggs here; you can reduce the amount because at first the baby can't eat that much.

2

Step 2

Beat the eggs in a bowl and mix well.

3

Step 3

Add a handful of green onions, 10g pork floss, and 10g shredded green vegetables, then mix well.

4

Step 4

This seafood sesame powder is for flavor enhancement and umami. If you don't have it, you can skip it, or use mushroom powder or dried shrimp powder instead.

5

Step 5

Spray oil in a small white pan and preheat, then pour in the egg mixture. If you don't have this pan, you can also use a frying pan or sandwich maker.

6

Step 6

Pour in the egg batter, cover with a lid, and cook for about 8-10 minutes.

7

Step 7

Open it and it's done. The egg will puff up, and even after settling it won't shrink too much. If the inside is fully set, it's cooked through.
