Steamed buns (mantou) 4 buns
Shredded mozzarella cheese 1 cup
Diced ham 1/2 cup
Green onions, chopped 2 tablespoons
Egg, beaten 1
Salt 1/4 teaspoon
Black sesame seeds 1 tablespoon

Prep the buns

Cut each steamed bun in a crosshatch pattern, creating pockets without cutting all the way through. The cuts should be deep enough to hold the fillings.

Stuff with cheese and ham

Generously fill each opening with shredded cheese, then tuck diced ham pieces into the gaps. Press gently to nestle the fillings inside.

Sprinkle chopped green onions over the stuffed buns. Brush the tops generously with beaten egg, then dust lightly with salt and black sesame seeds.
