Crispy Fried Sweet Potato Balls

Story

These sweet potato balls are a popular street food and party snack. The key is frying them at the right temperature to achieve that beautiful golden crust without burning.

Ingredients

frozen sweet potato balls 400g
vegetable oil for frying 500ml
powdered sugar for dusting 2 tbsp

Heat the oil

Pour vegetable oil into a deep pan or wok. Heat over medium-low heat until it reaches around 140°C (284°F). Use a thermometer if you have one, or test by dropping in a small piece of bread - it should sizzle gently.

Fry the balls

Carefully add the frozen sweet potato balls to the hot oil. Fry for 8-10 minutes, turning them occasionally with a slotted spoon. They should turn a lovely golden brown color.

Drain and serve

Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried balls onto a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil. Let them cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar if you like a touch of sweetness.
