Ingredients

Pasta sauce (tomato, pesto, cream, or oil-based) 1/2 cup
Thinning agent (Wilton piping gel, half-and-half, or olive oil) 1 tbsp or more

Instructions

1

Test the consistency

Place 1/2 cup of sauce in a working bowl and stir, then drop in a strand of pasta to test the coating effect.

2

Thin the sauce

If the sauce is too thick, add 1 tablespoon of thinning agent (such as Wilton clear gel, half-and-half, or olive oil) and stir until smooth. Test again, and record the amount added as needed.

3

Storage

Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the sauce to cover it, and label to distinguish the thinned sauce from the original.
