Ingredients

Tilapia (cleaned, with 3 diagonal slashes on each side) 1 (about 600 g)
Red chili peppers (washed and sliced) 2
Scallions (washed and cut into segments) 3
Ginger (washed and sliced) 1 small piece
Garlic (washed and sliced) 3 cloves
Cooking oil (heated for pan-frying the fish) 30 g
Soy sauce 1 tsp
Cooking wine 2 tsp
Sesame oil (drizzled at the end) 1 tsp
Pepper powder 1 tsp
Fine salt 1 tsp
Sugar 2 tsp
MSG 1 tsp

Instructions

1

Prepare the Ingredients

Clean the tilapia and make 3 diagonal slashes on each side. Wash the scallions and cut them into segments. Wash and slice the ginger, garlic, and red chili peppers.

2

Pan-Fry the Fish

Add oil to a pan and heat it up. Pan-fry the fish until both sides are golden brown, then remove and set aside.

3

Build the Sauce

Leave a small amount of oil in the pan, then sauté the scallions, ginger, garlic, and chili until fragrant. Add the soy sauce, cooking wine, sugar, pepper, salt, MSG, and water, and bring to a boil.

4

Braise Until Flavorful

Place the pan-fried tilapia into the sauce and simmer over low heat until the flavors are absorbed. Remove the fish and plate it. Reduce the remaining sauce until thick, drizzle with sesame oil, and pour over the fish.
