Carrots in White Sauce

Ingredients

carrots (peeled, cut into long strips) 2-3
butter (for cooking the carrots) 1/2 tbsp
salt (for seasoning) 1 tsp
green peas (blanched before use) 20 g
butter (for making the white sauce) 3 tbsp
flour (toasted to make the white sauce) to taste
milk (for making the white sauce) to taste
white pepper (to season the white sauce) a pinch

Instructions

1

Prepare the Carrots

Peel the carrots and cut them into long strips.

2

Cook the Carrots

Add enough water to cover the carrots, then add 1/2 tbsp of butter and salt. Cook until tender.

3

Make the White Sauce

Heat 3 tbsp of butter, stir in the flour and cook until fragrant, then pour in the milk and whisk until smooth. Take care not to scorch the sauce, season with salt and white pepper, and the béchamel-style white sauce is ready.

4

Combine and Serve

Fold the tender carrots into the white sauce, add the blanched green peas, mix evenly, and serve with the sauce spooned over.
