Ingredients

active dry yeast 2 packages (1/4 ounce each)
warm water (110° to 115°) 1/2 cup
warm milk (110° to 115°) 1/2 cup
butter (softened) 1/2 cup
sugar 1/2 cup
eggs (beaten) 2
salt 1 teaspoon
all-purpose flour 4-1/2 to 5 cups
sugar 2 cups
ground cinnamon 2 tablespoons
butter (melted) 3/4 cup

Instructions

1

Dough Fermentation

In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Let stand for 5 minutes. Add milk, butter, sugar, eggs, and salt. Add enough flour to form a stiff dough.

2

Kneading and First Rise

Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in an oiled bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1-1/2 hours.

3

Shaping

Punch dough down; divide into thirds. Cover two portions with plastic wrap. Shape one portion into 12 balls. Roll each ball into an 8-inch rope. Mix sugar and cinnamon. Dip ropes in melted butter, then roll in cinnamon-sugar. Tie into knots. Tuck the ends under and pinch to seal, placing on ungreased baking sheets. Repeat with remaining dough. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.

4

Baking

Bake at 375°F for 12-14 minutes until golden brown.
