Crispy Fried Crown Daisy Balls
Chrysanthemum greens (commonly called penghao) are an edible vegetable, with tender leaves and stems used as a cooking ingredient.
Per 100g edible portion, they provide 1.9g of protein, 1.2g of dietary fiber, 1510μg of carotene, 18mg of vitamin C, plus folate, potassium, sodium, calcium and other vitamins and minerals.
Chrysanthemum greens contain volatile essential oils that support appetite stimulation, spleen strengthening, blood pressure reduction and mental refreshment. These compounds evaporate easily when heated, which weakens their effects.
They are pungent, sweet and cool in nature, and act on the heart, spleen and stomach meridians. People with diarrhea should avoid eating them.
