Crispy Radish

Ingredients

white radish (remove root and top ends, peel, wash, and cut into 0.7 cm thick slices) 2
flour 100 g
eggs (beaten into egg wash) 2
peanut oil (for deep-frying) 500 g (about 100 g actually used)
bread crumbs to taste
white sugar (sprinkled over the finished dish) to taste
hawthorn paste strips (for garnishing the plate edge) to taste

Instructions

1

Step 1

Trim off the root and top ends of the white radish, peel it, wash it clean, and cut it into 0.7 cm thick slices.

2

Step 2

Dip each radish slice in sequence into the flour, then the egg wash, and finally the bread crumbs, making sure each slice is evenly coated.

3

Step 3

Heat the oil to medium (about 150 °C / 300 °F, roughly half-hot in Chinese terms). Carefully lower the breaded radish slices into the pan and turn them frequently. Once they turn golden brown and crisp, remove them from the oil and drain.

4

Step 4

Arrange the fried radish slices on a serving plate, sprinkle with white sugar, and decorate the rim of the plate with hawthorn paste strips. Serve immediately.
