Delicious Sweet Potato Puree
Sweet Potato Puree (美味红薯泥)
A straightforward Chinese recipe for smooth, flavorful sweet potato puree, made with just two core ingredients: sweet potato and water.
Ingredients
Instructions
Step 1
Wash one sweet potato. Inspect the outside for any holes or moldy spots.
Step 2
I prefer to slice the sweet potato before steaming. On one hand, this lets me check for any dark or spoiled parts; on the other hand, it saves time. Note: the sweet potato I used is fairly thin, so if yours is round and thick, don't try to slice it, it's usually too hard to cut through.
Step 3
Yellow-fleshed sweet potatoes tend to be sweeter. Their color is bright and full, and the flavor is usually better.
Step 4
Steam the slices for about 15 minutes. If steaming them whole, allow about 5 extra minutes.
Step 5
The skin peels off very easily after steaming.
Step 6
Place the steamed sweet potato into a blender.
Step 7
Add an appropriate amount of warm water (you can also use baby's formula milk).
Step 8
Blend into a smooth, fine puree.
Step 9
Check the texture to make sure there are no large chunks of sweet potato remaining.
Step 10
Feed the baby a small amount. The sweet potato puree should be served warm. If it has cooled down, don't give it to the baby, as it may cause diarrhea.
