Guava Chicken Bowl

Story

This recipe puts a tropical twist on classic stir-fry by incorporating ripe guava. The fruit's natural sweetness complements savory soy and garlic beautifully.

Ingredients

boneless chicken thighs 400g, sliced thin
ripe guava 2 medium, peeled and cut into wedges
soy sauce 3 tablespoons
garlic 4 cloves, minced
ginger 1 inch, grated
vegetable oil 2 tablespoons
rice vinegar 1 tablespoon
brown sugar 1 teaspoon
sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

1

Prep the ingredients

Slice chicken thighs into thin strips. Cut guava into bite-sized wedges, removing seeds if desired. Mince garlic and grate ginger.

2

Sear the chicken

Heat oil in a wok over high heat. Add chicken and cook until golden brown, about 4 minutes. Remove and set aside.

3

Build the sauce

In the same wok, sauté garlic and ginger for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add soy sauce, rice vinegar, and brown sugar. Let it simmer until slightly thickened.

4

Combine and finish

Return chicken to the wok along with guava pieces. Toss gently and cook for 2-3 minutes until guava is just tender but still holds shape. Garnish with sesame seeds and serve over rice.
