Pan-Fried Sausages

Story

This simple technique gives ordinary sausages a delicious golden crust while keeping the insides moist. The quick parboil step ensures even cooking without any risk of a burnt exterior.

Ingredients

Sausages 6 links (about 400g)
Vegetable oil 2 tablespoons
Water enough to cover sausages

Instructions

1

Rinse and prep

Give the sausages a quick rinse under cold running water. Pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.

2

Parboil briefly

Bring a pot of water to a gentle simmer. Drop in the sausages and let them cook for about 5 minutes. This parboiling helps them cook evenly and removes some of the excess fat.

3

Pan-fry until golden

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add the parboiled sausages and cook, turning occasionally, for 8-10 minutes until they're nicely browned on all sides and heated through.
