Instructions
Make the dough
Choose recipe size. Add the first 11 ingredients to the bread machine according to the manufacturer's instructions. Select the dough cycle.
Process the dough
Remove the dough at the end of the cycle. Press to deflate. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
Shape (1.5 lb recipe)
Prepare a 10-inch tube pan and grease it. Divide the dough into 24 small balls. In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 tsp nutmeg. Dip each ball first in the melted butter, then roll in the sugar-nutmeg mixture. Place half of the coated dough balls in the bottom of the pan, then add a second layer. Drizzle the remaining butter over the top and sprinkle with the remaining sugar mixture.
Proof and bake
Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until almost doubled in size. Bake at 325°F (about 163°C) for 35 to 40 minutes, until the bread sounds hollow when tapped (if needed to prevent over-browning, cover loosely with foil during the last 10 minutes).
Remove from oven
Cool on a rack for 1 minute. Invert onto a plate and remove the pan. Serve warm.
