Ingredients

all-purpose flour 2½ cups
baking soda 1 tsp
salt ¼ tsp
unsalted butter (softened) 1 cup (2 sticks)
granulated sugar ¾ cup
light brown sugar (firmly packed) ¾ cup
large eggs 2
vanilla extract 1 tsp
almond extract ¼ tsp
dried sour cherries (cut into thin strips) ¾ cup
toasted sliced almonds (coarsely chopped after toasting) 1 cup
premium white chocolate (cut into ¼-inch chunks) 6 oz

Instructions

1

Preheat the oven

Position the rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 350°F (about 175°C).

2

Mix the dry ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

3

Cream the butter and sugars

Using an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the butter and sugars together on medium speed for about 1 minute. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition and scraping down the bowl. Add the vanilla and almond extracts. Reduce the speed to low and add the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined. Add the chopped cherries, almonds, and white chocolate chunks and mix on low just until combined.

4

Bake

Drop the dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart. Bake one sheet at a time for 11 to 13 minutes, until the edges are golden—do not overbake. Let cool on the baking sheet for 1 minute, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
