Steamed Egg Tofu with Peas

Story

Silky egg tofu serves as the perfect canvas for savory toppings in this simple yet elegant steamed dish. The gentle cooking method preserves the delicate texture of the tofu while allowing the flavors of the seasoned pork and vibrant peas to shine through.

Ingredients

egg tofu (silken tofu) 1 block (about 300g)
ground pork 100g
frozen peas 1/4 cup
light soy sauce 1 tablespoon
cornstarch 1 teaspoon
vegetable oil 1 tablespoon
sesame oil 1/2 teaspoon
salt pinch
ginger 1 small piece, minced
green onions 2 stalks, sliced

Instructions

1

Prepare the tofu

Carefully remove the egg tofu from its packaging and slice into rounds about 1 inch thick. Arrange the slices in a single layer on a shallow steaming plate or dish.

2

Season the pork

In a small bowl, combine the ground pork with soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and a pinch of salt. Mix until the meat is well coated and slightly sticky. Stir in the minced ginger.

3

Assemble and steam

Spoon the seasoned pork mixture over the tofu slices, spreading it evenly. Scatter the frozen peas across the top. Place the dish in a steamer and cook over medium-high heat for 12-15 minutes until the pork is cooked through.

4

Finish and serve

Remove from the steamer and drizzle with vegetable oil. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve immediately while hot over steamed rice.
