Style Sauce Baked Shrimp

Story

A elegant Chinese-inspired dish where plump shrimp are bathed in a flavorful sauce and finished under high heat for a caramelized top. The sauce brings together sweet, savory, and tangy notes that complement the natural sweetness of the shrimp.

Ingredients

large raw shrimp, peeled and deveined 1 pound
vegetable oil 1 tablespoon
light soy sauce 2 tablespoons
oyster sauce 1 tablespoon
sugar 1 teaspoon
garlic, minced 2 cloves
green onions, chopped 2 stalks
sesame seeds for garnish 1 teaspoon

Instructions

1

Prepare the shrimp

Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels. Make a shallow cut along the back of each shrimp to help it lay flat and absorb more sauce. Arrange in a single layer in a baking dish.

2

Make the sauce

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and minced garlic until the sugar dissolves. Drizzle the oil over the shrimp, then spoon the sauce evenly over each one.

3

Bake until cooked through

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the shrimp for 8-10 minutes until they turn pink and curl. For a golden top, switch to broil for the last 1-2 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.

4

Finish and serve

Remove from oven, sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately while hot.
