Taro Braised Pork Belly

Ingredients

pork belly to taste
taro to taste
ginger to taste
garlic to taste
star anise to taste
cinnamon bark to taste
rock sugar to taste
salt to taste
cooking wine to taste
light soy sauce to taste
dark soy sauce to taste

Instructions

Step 1

Wash the pork belly and cut into small pieces.

Place in cold water, blanch for 3 minutes, then remove.

Heat a little oil in a pan, add ginger, garlic, star anise, and cinnamon bark, and stir-fry until fragrant.

Add the pork belly and stir-fry until some oil is rendered; if there is too much oil, you can pour some out.

Add rock sugar, light soy sauce, cooking wine, and dark soy sauce, and stir-fry to coat the meat with color.

Add hot water until it just covers the meat, and simmer on low heat for 20 minutes.

Peel the taro, wash, and cut into chunks.

Add the taro, season with salt, continue to braise for 10 minutes, then reduce the sauce over high heat.
