This simple dish highlights the refreshing crunch of celtuce, lightly cooked to preserve its texture. The aromatic sesame oil and soy sauce dressing adds a savory depth, while a touch of optional chili oil brings a gentle warmth, making it a cool and vibrant side perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Celtuce stem (peeled and cut into rolling wedges) about 450 g
Sesame oil 1 tbsp
Light soy sauce 1 tbsp
Sugar 1 tsp
Chili oil (optional) 1/2 tsp

Prepare ingredients

Starting from one end of the stem, tear off the outer skin of the celtuce stem, discard the green leaf parts, wash clean and cut into rolling wedges, to obtain about half a pound

Heat treatment

Place the celtuce stem inside a resealable plastic bag, pull from the left and right ends towards the center, leave a 3 cm opening to vent steam, heat on high for 2 minutes, remove and pour into a colander to drain water, let cool

Season and serve

Mix the seasoning ingredients, drizzle over the celtuce stem to serve, or refrigerate first and drizzle the seasoning over when serving
