Ingredients

onion (peeled and finely chopped) 1 small
apple (coarsely grated with skin) 1
lean ground turkey (ground chicken, beef, pork, or lamb also works) 1 lb (450 g)
egg 1 small
all-purpose flour (for dusting) to taste
salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1

Prepare the Vegetables

Peel the onion and chop it very finely. Leave the apple unpeeled and coarsely grate it. When you can see the core and seeds—you're done!

2

Mix the Meat

Place the onion and apple in a mixing bowl, then add the ground meat. Stir or use your hands to break up the meat and combine it with the onion and apple.

3

Prepare the Egg

Crack the egg into another bowl and lightly beat the yolk and white with a fork or whisk. This will help bind the burger mixture.

4

Season and Combine

Pour the beaten egg into the meat, onion, and apple mixture. Season to taste, then use clean hands to mix everything together—this part is messy but fun!

5

Shape the Patties

Lightly dust a plate and your hands with flour. Grab a handful of the mixture and shape it into a round, flat burger patty. Place it on the floured plate.

6

Chill

Repeat with the rest of the mixture, then lightly dust all 6 burgers with flour. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

7

Cook

Preheat the grill to medium heat. Place the burgers on a foil-lined baking sheet and cook for 8 minutes per side until fully cooked.
