About Frozen Tofu (Star Ingredient for Frozen Tofu Braised with Shrimp)

Per 100g of frozen tofu typically contains 140–160mg of calcium. It is a high-protein plant food, offering all 8 essential amino acids, plus unsaturated fatty acids and lecithin that are lacking in most animal products.

  1. Highly nutrient-dense, frozen tofu is packed with essential trace elements including iron, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium, as well as carbohydrates, plant oils and abundant high-quality protein, earning it the nickname "plant meat". The biological value of soy protein is comparable to that of fish meat, making it a top-tier plant protein source. As a complete protein, its amino acid profile is well-balanced, covering nearly all essential amino acids required by the human body. While raw soy has a protein digestion and absorption rate of only 65%, this rises to 92–95% when processed into frozen tofu.
  2. The soy used to make frozen tofu contains around 18% oil, most of which is retained in the final product. Soy oil is high in linoleic acid and contains no cholesterol, supporting healthy development of the nervous system, blood vessels and brain.
  3. Frozen tofu contains no cholesterol, making it an ideal medicinal dish for people with high blood pressure, high blood lipids, high cholesterol, arteriosclerosis and coronary heart disease.
  4. Frozen tofu is rich in plant estrogens, which help prevent and treat osteoporosis.
