Instructions

Fry the gluten
Tear the gluten into pieces and squeeze out the excess moisture. Place into hot oil and fry until deep yellow and crispy on the surface, then remove and drain the oil.
2
Braise
Leave a thin layer of oil in the pan, add ginger, star anise, and cinnamon bark and cook until aromatic. Add the gluten, soy sauce, sugar, and MSG, then pour in the stock. Bring to a boil over high heat, reduce to low heat, and braise for about 1 hour. Once the sauce has reduced, drizzle with sesame oil and serve.
