Hailing from the heart of traditional Chinese cuisine, Hong Shao Rou, or Red Braised Pork, is celebrated for its melt-in-your-mouth texture and rich, glossy sauce. This dish embodies the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors that have made it a beloved comfort food across generations.

Ingredients

Pork belly 500 g
Ginger A little
Rock sugar A little
Bay leaf A little
Dried tangerine peel A little
Dried red chili A little
Star anise A little
Garlic To taste

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the ingredients and set aside.

Preheat oil in the pan, add rock sugar and stir-fry until the sugar caramelizes.

Add the pork and stir-fry until colored.

Add all the side ingredients and stir-fry until fragrant.

Pour in two tablespoons of cooking wine.

Add two tablespoons of light soy sauce.

Add one tablespoon of dark soy sauce.

Add warm water just enough to cover the ingredients, and bring to a boil over high heat.
