Button potato pancakes are a cozy, traditional Chinese home-style snack named for their small, round, button-like appearance. Crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, they are a beloved comfort food often prepared for casual family meals or holiday celebrations, filled with the warm, nostalgic flavor of homemade cooking.

Step 1
Steam potatoes over medium heat until cooked. Peel and set aside (about 150g cooked potato).

Place cooked potatoes in a food bag and crush. Place the bag on the work surface and roll repeatedly several times.

If not sufficiently crushed, continue to mash with one end of the rolling pin.

Add salad oil, salt, sugar, and cornstarch. Mix well.

Knead into a dough.

Sprinkle dry flour on the work surface to prevent sticking.

Roll into a sheet about 0.3 cm thick.

Use a round mold to cut into shapes. Gather the scraps into dough again, roll out, and cut into circles. Repeat until finished.

Press into shape with a round mold, knead the leftover edge scraps back into dough, press into circles again, and repeat until all are done.
