Coix Seed, Red Bean, and Lotus Seed Porridge

Story

Coix seed: Promotes pus drainage; Red bean: Regulates Qi, clears heat and detoxifies, promotes blood circulation; Glutinous rice: Promotes blood circulation and removes blood stasis

  • Seedless lotus seeds — About 10 pieces
  • Job's tears — 25g
  • Red beans — 15g
  • Glutinous rice — 15g
  1. Step 1 Rinse the lotus seeds, red beans, and coix seeds clean with water, and soak for half an hour (soaking saves time for cooking the porridge later).

  2. Step 2 Add an appropriate amount of water to the pot and bring to a boil (cooking porridge with boiling water makes it cook faster and prevents sticking to the pot).

  3. Step 3 Add the soaked lotus seeds, red beans, and coix seeds.

  4. Step 4 Boil on high heat for half an hour, then add the washed glutinous rice (lotus seeds, red beans, and coix seeds are harder to cook; to ensure they finish cooking simultaneously, add the glutinous rice later).

  5. Step 5 Cook on medium heat for half an hour, then start stirring with a spoon (stirring with a spoon makes the porridge cook more evenly and helps it become thicker).

  6. Step 6 Cook until it reaches a thick consistency, then serve and enjoy.
