Ingredients

plain flour 100 g
rolled oats 50 g
mixed spices 1/2 tsp
butter (cold, diced) 50 g
extra-fine powdered sugar 100 g
egg yolk 1
water 1 tsp
apricot jam 4 tbsp
white icing 250 g
dark chocolate (broken into pieces) 100 g
small colored round candies 20 small
Tagada strawberries (halved) 5
powdered sugar (for dusting) to taste

Instructions

1

Step 1

Put the flour, oats, mixed spices, and butter in a food processor. Process until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

2

Step 2

Add the sugar, egg yolk, and 1 tsp of water. Mix until the dough comes together.

3

Step 3

Place the dough on a lightly floured work surface and knead until smooth. Wrap it in cling film and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

4

Step 4

Preheat the oven to 200°C (thermostat setting 7). Grease a large baking tray.

5

Step 5

Roll the dough out thinly on a floured work surface and cut out rounds with a 6 cm cutter. Arrange them on the tray with a small gap between each. Bake for 12 minutes, until lightly golden. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.

6

Step 6

Sieve the apricot jam. Spread a little onto each biscuit, keeping it 5 mm from the edge.

7

Step 7

Roll half of the white icing out as thinly as possible on a surface dusted with powdered sugar. Use a 6 cm cutter to cut out 10 rounds and place one on each biscuit. For the eyes, moisten the icing and press in the colored candies.

8

Step 8

Melt the dark chocolate and use it to pipe the dog's nose and mouth.

9

Step 9

For the tongue, place half a strawberry candy on each face. For the ears, divide the remaining icing into 20 portions. Roll each portion into a ball, then press it between your thumb and index finger into a pear shape. Moisten the icing and attach the ears. Place the dog faces on the tray.
