Dragon Fruit Red Bean Sago Dessert
Even though autumn has arrived, midday temperatures are still sweltering. Paired with the lingering fatigue of the "bitter summer" period, my appetite has bounced back lately, and I’m craving savory meats and sweet treats—perhaps my body is just stocking up on energy for the winter just two months away? Whatever the reason, I’m taking advantage of the still-warm weather, my steady appetite, and the ingredients I already have on hand to whip up a refreshing cool drink for myself. My older sister stopped by just now, so I’m making her a cup too—it’s hardly any extra work. I made honeyed red beans a few days ago, and after preparing a few small snacks, I still had plenty left over. Using them to make sago pudding makes for a delicious, deeply satisfying drink.
Ingredients
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the pure milk, red-fleshed dragon fruit, homemade sweetened red beans, and sago pearls.
Step 2
Take an appropriate amount of sago pearls and pour them into a pot. Soak in boiling water for 20 minutes.
Step 3
The sago will quickly begin to swell. During the first 3 minutes, stir occasionally with a small spoon to prevent the sago from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
Step 4
After 20 minutes, add an appropriate amount of cold water to the pot and bring to a boil over low heat. Sago is not easy to cook through; it takes about 15 minutes over low heat. Stir occasionally along the way to prevent the sago from sticking to the bottom and burning.
Step 5
Use a slotted spoon from time to time to scoop up some sago and check. When a small white dot remains in the center of the sago, you can turn off the heat.
Step 6
Pour the sago from the pot into a colander and rinse with cold water twice; the sago will become fully transparent. If not using right away, you can soak the sago in cold water.
Step 7
Cut the red-fleshed dragon fruit into small pieces and set aside.
Step 8
Take two cups and first spoon the sago into them.
Step 9
Then pour in an appropriate amount of (Dom Sig) pure milk and stir the sago and milk together evenly with a spoon.
Step 10
Next, add an appropriate amount of sweetened red beans. The quantity of sweetened red beans can be adjusted according to their sweetness and your taste preference.
Step 11
Finally, arrange the red-fleshed dragon fruit on top. For clearly defined layers, do not stir. If you would like the color of the red-fleshed dragon fruit to gradient-blend into the milk, gently stir a few times.
Step 12
Dragon fruit, red bean, and sago dessert — beautiful and nutritious!
