Story

This classic farmhouse dish transforms simple ingredients into something memorable. The secret lies in properly marinating the beef to achieve that tender, flavorful result.

Ingredients

beef ribeye or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain 300g
celery stalks 2
green bell pepper 1
cornstarch 1 tablespoon
vegetable oil 3 tablespoons
ginger powder 1/2 teaspoon
garlic, minced 2 cloves
salt 1/2 teaspoon
black pepper 1/4 teaspoon
chicken powder 1/4 teaspoon
light soy sauce 1 tablespoon
cooking wine 1 tablespoon

Instructions

1

Marinate the beef

Place sliced beef in a bowl. Add ginger powder, salt, black pepper, chicken powder, cooking wine, and cornstarch. Mix well until the liquid is absorbed. Let sit for 10 minutes while you prepare the vegetables.

2

Prep the vegetables

Trim celery and cut into diagonal pieces about 2 inches long. Remove seeds from bell pepper and slice into thin strips. Have garlic ready nearby.

3

Stir-fry the beef

Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a wok over high heat until smoking. Add beef in a single layer and let it sear for 30 seconds before stirring. Cook until just browned but still slightly pink inside, about 2 minutes. Remove and set aside.

4

Cook the vegetables

Add remaining oil to the wok. Stir-fry garlic for 10 seconds until fragrant. Add celery and bell pepper, stirring constantly for 2 minutes until they become tender-crisp.

5

Combine and finish

Return beef to the wok. Add soy sauce and toss everything together over high heat for 1 minute until well combined and heated through. Serve immediately over steamed rice.
