Ingredients
all-purpose flour
1.5 cup
baking powder
1/4 tsp
unsalted butter (slightly softened)
0.5 cup (1 stick)
granulated maple sugar (grind if coarse)
0.5 cup
sugar
0.5 cup
large egg
1
salt
1/8 tsp
vanilla extract
1.5 tsp
powdered sugar (for dusting)
to taste
MAPLE ICING (OPTIONAL): 0.5 cup maple syrup, 1/8 tsp corn syrup, about 1/4 cup powdered sugar, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
1
Prepare dry ingredients
In a medium bowl, thoroughly mix the 1.5 cups flour and baking powder; set aside. If the maple sugar is coarse, grind in a food processor to a granulated sugar texture.
2
Cream the butter
In a large bowl, use an electric mixer on medium speed to beat the butter, maple sugar, and sugar until very light and well combined.
3
Mix in wet ingredients
Add the egg, salt, and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
4
Form the dough
Stir or fold in the flour mixture until evenly combined; the dough will be quite soft. If too soft to handle, let rest 5 to 10 minutes until slightly firmer.
