Normandy Apple Fritters

Apple slices are soaked in apple brandy, battered and deep-fried, then dusted with powdered sugar — a classic French dessert.

Normandy Apple Fritters

Ingredients

flour 250 g
granulated sugar (200 g used in the batter) 250 g
milk 125 ml
cider 125 ml
apples 500 g
apple brandy 1 small cup
powdered sugar to taste
salt a pinch

Instructions

Step 1

In a bowl, mix the flour, 200 g of the granulated sugar, and the salt. Make a well in the center and slowly pour in the milk and cider, stirring with a spatula until the batter is smooth. Cover with a cloth and let rest for 2 hours.

Peel the apples, remove the cores with a corer, and cut into medium-thickness rounds. Marinate in a mixture of the remaining granulated sugar and apple brandy for 30 minutes.

Heat the frying oil. Dip the apple slices in the batter and fry in the hot oil until golden on both sides.

Remove and drain on paper towels, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
