Orange Oatmeal Cookie Bars

Story

Ideal for first-time bakers, these orange-scented oatmeal bars offer a delightful textural contrast, with a crisp golden outer layer and a soft, tender interior infused with bright citrus notes, making them a no-fuss snack or light dessert.

Ingredients

butter 250 g
finely grated orange zest 1 large orange
corn syrup 225 g
light brown sugar 75 g
rolled oats 375 g

Instructions

1

Prepare the oven

Preheat the oven to 180°C (Th. 6). Line the bottom and sides of a 28 x 20 cm shallow cake mold with parchment paper.

2

Simmer

Heat butter, orange zest, corn syrup, and sugar over low heat in a large pot.

3

Mix and transfer to mold

Once the butter is melted, add oats. Pour the mixture into the mold and smooth the surface.

4

Bake

Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until the edges start to turn color (the mixture will still be very soft at this point, but will harden after cooling). Let it cool in the mold.

5

Cut

Remove the whole piece from the mold, and cut it into thin strips.
