Oven BBQ Skewers with Vegetables

Story

These oven-baked skewers bring the BBQ vibe indoors without needing a grill. The combination of savory beef with thin potato and cucumber slices creates a satisfying texture contrast.

Ingredients

beef sirloin 200g, cut into 1-inch cubes
potato 1 medium, sliced very thin
cucumber 1 small, sliced very thin
bamboo skewers 4-6 skewers, soaked in water 20 minutes
vegetable oil 2 tablespoons
soy sauce 2 tablespoons
honey 1 tablespoon
garlic powder ½ teaspoon
sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

1

Prepare the ingredients

Rinse beef under cold water and pat dry. Cut into uniform cubes about 1 inch in size. Slice potato and cucumber as thin as possible, ideally using a mandoline or sharp knife. Thread beef cubes alternating with vegetable slices onto soaked bamboo skewers.

2

Make the glaze

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, vegetable oil, and garlic powder until smooth. This savory-sweet glaze will coat the skewers beautifully.

3

Preheat and assemble

Heat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the assembled skewers on a baking sheet lined with foil. Use a brush to coat each skewer generously with the sauce mixture, making sure to get good coverage on all sides.

4

Roast until golden

Slide the baking sheet into the preheated oven and roast for 18-20 minutes, turning the skewers halfway through. The beef should be cooked through and the vegetables slightly caramelized at the edges. Sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
