Millet Beef Bowl with Enoki and Lettuce

Story

This fusion bowl combines ancient grains with classic Korean banchan elements. The millet provides a nutty, fluffy base that absorbs the savory beef juices beautifully. Feel free to add a soft-boiled egg or kimchi on the side for extra authenticity.

Ingredients

beef sirloin, thinly sliced 200g
cooked millet 150g
enoki mushrooms 100g
butter lettuce, shredded 50g
fresh ginger, minced 1 tablespoon
garlic, minced 2 cloves
soy sauce 2 tablespoons
sesame oil 1 tablespoon
vegetable oil 1 tablespoon
green onions, sliced 2 stalks
sesame seeds 1 teaspoon

Instructions

1

Prepare the vegetables

Shred the butter lettuce into thin strips. Trim the enoki mushrooms and separate the strands. Slice the green onions diagonally for garnish.

2

Blanch the beef

Bring a pot of water to a gentle boil. Add the sliced beef and cook for about 30 seconds until just cooked through. Drain and set aside.

3

Sauté the aromatics

Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add minced ginger and garlic, stir-frying until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

4

Build the bowl

Divide the warm cooked millet between two bowls. Arrange the blanched beef, enoki mushrooms, and shredded lettuce on top. Drizzle with soy sauce and sesame oil.

5

Finish and serve

Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve immediately while the millet is still warm.
