Pan-Fried Cinnamon Apple Slices

Pan-Fried Cinnamon Apple Slices

Story

Apples cooking in butter will always smell like home. The slices soften inside while their edges turn golden and slightly crisp, catching just enough cinnamon to taste like autumn without losing their natural sweetness. A lemon rub beforehand keeps them looking fresh and bright. Serve them warm—they're lovely over vanilla ice cream, folded into oatmeal, or eaten straight from the plate while they're still hot.

Ingredients

Apple (peeled, cored, cut into 5 wedges, thinly sliced) as needed
Butter (clarified butter) as needed
Ground cinnamon as needed
Lemon (rub on apples to prevent browning) 1/2 piece

Instructions

1

Prepare the apples

Peel the apples, cut each into 5 wedges, remove the cores, and slice each wedge into thin slices. Rub the surface with lemon to prevent discoloration.

2

Coat with cream

Drizzle English cream onto a plate, then place in the refrigerator to chill and set

3

Fry Apples

Place the apple slices in clarified butter and pan-fry each side for about 2 minutes until golden.

4

Sprinkle cinnamon

Sprinkle with cinnamon powder, check doneness with the tip of a knife, then remove from the pan and set aside.
