Ingredients
Instructions
Step 1
Add wheat starch, glutinous rice flour, white sugar, and lard to a mixing bowl and stir to combine. Pour in boiling water to scald the mixture, then knead into a smooth dough. Take a small portion of the dough, add green food coloring, and knead into a light green dough.
Step 2
Roll the white dough into a long cylinder, cut into small equal portions, and wrap each portion with a small amount of the light green dough.
Step 3
Next, wrap the melon filling inside the dough, seal the opening tightly, and roll into a round ball.
Step 4
Roll the dough ball into an oval shape, with a narrower top and wider bottom.
Step 5
Use the back of a wooden comb to roll two circular indentations on the lower part of the raw dough piece.
Step 6
Dilute the cocoa powder with a small amount of water. Dip the teeth of the wooden comb into the mixture, and paint two circular lines along the indentations on the raw dough piece to complete the decorated raw bun.
Step 7
Place the finished raw buns in a steamer basket and steam over high heat for 4 minutes.
