Ingredients

raisins (6 1/4 ounces) 1 1/4 cups
vanilla extract 1 1/2 teaspoons
unsweetened chocolate (broken up or coarsely chopped) 2 ounces
unsalted butter (1/2 stick, cut into chunks) 1/4 cup
large egg 1
all-purpose white flour 1/4 cup
sugar 3/4 cup
coarsely chopped unsalted peanuts (about 7 ounces) 1 1/2 cups
salt 1/4 teaspoon
semisweet chocolate morsels (6 ounces) 1 cup
light corn syrup 1 tablespoon

Instructions

1

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Heavily grease several baking sheets or coat with nonstick spray.

2

Step 2

In a small bowl, cover the raisins with hot water. Let soak for 5 minutes. Turn out the raisins into a colander. Let stand until well drained.

3

Step 3

Meanwhile, in a large, microwave-safe bowl, microwave the chocolate and butter on 50-percent power, stirring at 30-second intervals. Stop microwaving before the chocolate completely melts and let the residual heat finish the job. (Alternatively, in a medium, heavy saucepan, melt the chocolate and butter over lowest heat, stirring frequently; be very careful not to burn. Immediately remove from the heat.) Let cool to warm.

4

Step 4

Stir the sugar, salt, corn syrup, and vanilla into the chocolate mixture until very well blended.

5

Step 5

Vigorously stir in the egg until evenly incorporated.

6

Step 6

Stir in the flour, then the peanuts, raisins, and chocolate morsels, until evenly incorporated.
