Sweet Potato Multigrain Rice
Cooking mixed grain rice actually has a few tricks. Since grains absorb water differently from white rice, you should reduce the water amount slightly. The grains can be combined according to your own preference. In autumn, I like to add black rice, large red beans, and black sesame, which are said to nourish the qi and condition the hair — especially good for women.
I once bought a pre-mixed grain pack that didn't need soaking and could go straight into the pot and cook up nicely. However, if you're using raw beans, especially red beans and black beans, be sure to soak them for at least 3 hours beforehand, otherwise the rice will feel gritty between the teeth.
Sweet potato is a coarse grain rich in dietary fiber, which is excellent for keeping the digestive tract moving. The rice cooked in my Qiaofu rice cooker comes out with a natural, delicate sweetness — no wonder my kids love it. Today I'm sharing the method with you, so if you enjoy mixed grain rice, don't miss this one~

Instructions
Step 1
Prepare all ingredients first. I used chestnut sweet potatoes, which are especially powdery, soft and delicious. They taste great even just steamed without making this sweet potato rice. I used a pre-mixed multigrain packet here; if you are using individual raw grains, remember to soak them before cooking.
Step 2
Rinse the multigrain mix and rice thoroughly, add them to the pot, and fill the water to the 2-cup mark.
Step 3
Wash the sweet potato, cut it into small cubes, rinse off the surface starch once more, then drain all excess water.
Step 4
Pour the sweet potato cubes into the pot and stir with a spoon. Since sweet potatoes contain water themselves, the amount of water in this recipe will yield fluffy, separate rice grains.
Step 5
Place the rice cooker inner pot properly and cover it with the lid.
Step 6
Press the low-sugar rice setting to start cooking. It takes about 40 minutes; adjust the time according to your own rice cooker.
Step 7
The cooked rice is super fragrant and soft, my kid can eat 3 bowls of it!
