Coffee liqueur 2 tbsp
Espresso (or strong coffee) 6 oz

1

Make the filling

In a bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a whisk attachment, combine mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, sugar, 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder, and coffee liqueur. Beat until stiff peaks form.

2

Prepare the cake

Cut the pound cake into 1-inch thick slices, then use a round cutter with the open end of a push-pop mold to cut out circles.

Assembly

Place a slice of cake at the bottom of the push-pop mold. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon of espresso. Spread a layer of mascarpone filling. Dust with a pinch of unsweetened cocoa powder. Repeat layering until filled. Garnish the top with unsweetened cocoa powder, chocolate shavings, or chocolate-covered espresso beans. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
