Blood-Nourishing Black-Hair Soup
A slow-cooked soup prepared with beef, black beans, and Polygonum multiflorum (he shou wu), traditionally enjoyed for nourishing the blood and supporting dark, healthy hair.
Ingredients
Fo-ti (He Shou Wu)

Beef, cut into chunks

Black beans

Dried longan

Red dates, pitted

Ginger, a few slices

Instructions

Step 1
Soak the black beans in water overnight, then briefly cook them in a small amount of water and drain off the water.

Add 8 cups of water to the pot, then place the chunked beef and a few slices of ginger in the pot together with the black beans and bring to a boil.

When the water comes to a boil, skim off the fat and foam, then add the fo-ti, dried longan, and pitted red dates. Simmer on low heat for 1 hour, then serve.
