Golden Batter Bun

Story

This batter bun comes together quickly with a wooden spoon, rising in a 6-inch cake mold before baking. The result is a warm, golden crust with a soft, tender interior, perfect for a simple breakfast or an afternoon snack.

Ingredients

Milk
Egg
Butter
All-purpose flour
Instant yeast
Water
Sugar
Salt

Instructions

1

Step 1

Mix milk, water, and butter, and microwave for 40 seconds.

2

Step 2

Let cool to warm, then pour in the egg liquid, add yeast powder, and mix well.

3

Step 3

Pour the liquid into the all-purpose flour and sugar.

4

Step 4

Stir vigorously with a wooden spatula for 2 to 3 minutes; the batter will be very thick.

5

Step 5

Pour the batter into a 6-inch cake mold, cover with plastic wrap, and let ferment for 1 hour.

6

Step 6

The original recipe says the batter won't rise significantly, but mine doubled in size.

7

Step 7

Preheat the oven to 190 degrees, middle rack, and bake until the surface is golden brown, about 20 minutes.
