Mushroom and Cured Sausage Braised Rice
My wife came home starving and was about to scold me for gaming on the sofa—but the aroma stopped her in her tracks. She hurried to the kitchen, opened the rice cooker, and dug right in, polishing off most of the pot by herself. Between lip-smacking bites, she declared it delicious enough to open a clay-pot rice restaurant. From angry to sweet in one meal—that's my wife for you! Today I'm sharing the easiest home-style braised rice. Follow the tips at the end, and yours will turn out perfectly every time.

Instructions
Step 1
Prepare all ingredients. Cantonese-style cured sausage works best for braised rice, and fragrant rice will make the dish taste even better!
Step 2
Wash the shiitake mushrooms, slice them or cut them into small cubes according to your preference.
Step 3
Cut the cured sausage into thin slices so its aroma can infuse the rice more easily.
Step 4
Rinse the rice, then add an appropriate amount of water. I used Joyoung Fresh Rice; the convenient thing about this rice is that you use one can of rice with one can of water, the golden ratio makes just enough rice for two people.
Step 5
Then add the cured sausage and shiitake mushrooms to the pot. If you like stronger flavors, add some oyster sauce or light soy sauce for extra aroma. Stir well, cover the lid, press the rice cooking button, and then go do whatever you need to do.
Step 6
Wait 5 more minutes after the rice cooker's cooking button pops up before eating. The rich aroma will impress you even before opening the lid! It's absolutely delicious!
