Ingredients

vanilla mini cupcake batter 1 batch
vanilla buttercream frosting 1 batch
pink food coloring paste to taste
round shallow baking pan (23 cm (9 inch), lined with baking paper) 3
disposable piping bag (fitted with Wilton 1M piping tip) 1

Instructions

1

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 160°C (fan 140°C). Divide the cupcake batter evenly into three bowls. Dip a toothpick into the pink food coloring paste and add it to each bowl, making each bowl of batter darker in color than the previous one.

2

Step 2

Pour each portion of batter into the prepared baking pans and bake in the oven for 20 minutes. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then unmold and transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.

3

Step 3

After cooling, trim off the domed tops of the cakes to level them. Using the push-up container as a mold, cut out 6 round cake pieces from each cake.

4

Step 4

Assemble the push-up cake by first placing the darkest pink cake layer. Fill the piping bag with buttercream frosting and pipe a small amount of frosting onto the cake layer.

Step 5

Repeat step 4, adding the medium pink cake layer, and finally the lightest pink cake layer. Pipe decorative frosting swirls on top to finish.
