Orange Scented Bread
A soft and aromatic loaf infused with fresh citrus flavor, perfect for breakfast or tea time.
Story
This recipe brings the bright, zesty aroma of oranges into a homemade white bread. Using a bread machine simplifies the kneading process, ensuring a pillowy texture that holds its shape beautifully after baking.
Ingredients
Instructions
Mix the dough
Combine the bread flour, sugar, yeast, salt, milk, and orange zest in your bread machine. Start the mixing cycle. Once a rough dough forms, add the softened butter.
Knead until smooth
Continue kneading the dough in the machine until it passes the windowpane test, meaning you can stretch a piece of dough thin enough to see light through it without tearing.
First proof
Remove the dough and place it in a warm, draft-free spot. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rise until it has doubled in size.
Shape the loaf
Gently degas the dough and shape it to fit your loaf tin. Lightly grease the tin with oil or butter to prevent sticking, then place the dough inside.
Second proof and bake
Let the dough rise in the tin until it reaches about 80% of the tin's height. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for approximately 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
